What about a Q&A mic on a stand at a community meeting?

It is impossible to properly sanitize a mic between speakers so

  • use 2 or 3 microphones in rotation
  • put a foam pop filter or surgical mask over each the one being used
  • remove the windscreen/face mask from the just used one and discard or put aside for washing
  • spray the grill with 80% Isopropyl Alcohol and leave as long as possible before putting on a fresh foam windscreen or face mask
  • repeat for each use
  • after the event, wash the foam windscreens in hot soapy water - let air dry, then spray with 80% Isopropyl Alcohol - let air dry then store for next time

If same microphone is being used by a single performer

  • clean and sanitize after each performance
  • remove the microphone grill
  • remove the foam from inside the
  • wash the foam in hot soapy water - squeeze dry - spray with 80-&% solution Isopropyl Alcohol
  • let air dry
  • spray the grill thoroughly with 80% solution Isopropyl Alcohol
  • let air dry
  • if time is short use a hair dryer on a low setting to accelerate the process
  • might be smart to have a spare grill and foam available for exchange so you can leap frog them from one performance to the next
