Projection Systems for Digital Backdrops

While full width scenic backdrops are all the rage, there are numerous other ways to utilize projection.

USE FLATS AS SCENIC PIECES

Project onto flats to create a cabin, or kitchen or bookcase etc.  Rear projection works great for this - the flat needs to be translucent - not clear.  Frost shower curtain or perspex sheet.

This way a single flat can become whatever you need it to be.

SCENE THROUGH A WINDOW

Or create a scene outside a window - moving is best, so you can see the wind blowing through a corn field or the waves crashing on a beach.  Built a flat with window frame - cover window with frosted sheet and project away - again rear can be awesome.  and a 4ft x 3ft window can be  projected from just 1.3 ft aware.

SCENE THROUGH AN OPENED DOOR

Similar to above but probably front projection - a scene big enough to be seen by every seat in the house can be projected from 3-4ft away with an ultra short throw projector.

PROJECT A "GHOST" ONTO SMOKE/HAZE

Want to create the illusion of s spectral character moving across stage - project the ghostly image onto  wall or cloud of haze.  Snakes slithering through the grass - project that onto some low lying fog along the front edge of stage.

USE your Imagination - or better yet set your students to work with their imaginations

Good for up to 20ft and perfect for small projections onto set pieces or flats.  We can also supply multiples for individual flats or link 2,3 or 4 to cover the entire backdrop using hardware screen distribution unit.

For 20ft display we can get as close as 16.2 feet.

Mounts on floor or from supplied mount with lighting clamp and safety cable

THIS IS ALL NEW FOR US - AT LEAST FOR THEATRE USE

HAVE BEEN DOING PROJECTION FOR CORPORATE EVENTS SINCE THE MID 90's

OUR INTEREST IS PROJECTING YOUR STUDENTS WORK NOT COMMERCIAL SCENIC DESIGNS

Great for large backdrops.

Very bright 0.4:1 ratio so for a 40ft wide drop the projector needs to be 18-19ft back from screen-scrim-wall.

Hang from light bar using included hanging frame and 2 heavy duty lighting clamps plus safety cable.

Probably best if backdrop width is around 30ft.

Has a throw ratio of 0.27 so for 30ft wide we need to mount the projectoe about 9.5 ft back from wall or screen/scrim.

Unit weighs just 9lbs and easily mounts with supplied mount ans a single lighting clamp.  Includes a safety cable

Still works well with large stages, but needs a bit more attention to light spill onto projection surface.

With a throw ratio of 0.25:1 to fill 40ft wide screen we only need about 12ft.

Unit is relatively light at 15lbs and comes complete with handing mount with 2 lighting clamps and safety cable.
